Boulder County planning panel votes to reconsider Twin Lakes land-use proposals

Boulder County Planning Commission members decided in a 5-1 vote on Wednesday to schedule another meeting to reconsider the medium-density residential land-use Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan designation members of that panel had approved last month.

Dave Rechberger, chairman of the Twin Lakes Action Group that’s fought against steps that could lead to developing higher-density housing on the 20 acres — and that had offered a competing proposal to have the area officially be designated as open space in the comprehensive plan — applauded the Planning Commission’s Wednesday decision to revisit the issue.

“I think that the decision that was made” on Wednesday “shows that citizens do have a voice,” said Rechberger, whose organization last week had formally requested that the planning commissionreconsider its Sept. 21 decision supporting the medium-density housing designation.
